Digital public infrastructure (DPI) initiatives are increasingly intersecting with regulatory objectives across Africa and other emerging markets, creating both distinct challenges and opportunities for regulatory authorities. This roundtable examines how regulators and central banks can navigate the growing convergence between infrastructure digitalization efforts, continue enabling responsible innovation, while maintaining effective oversight in diverse market contexts. Through structured discussion, participants will explore three critical areas: the balance between overlapping digital infrastructure strategies and their impact on regulatory mandates; the application of DPI principles to enhance regulatory and policy approaches across different jurisdictions; and opportunities for cross-border collaboration in infrastructure development, with particular attention to emerging market dynamics. Drawing from global regulatory experiences and regional insights, this session aims to identify practical approaches for regulatory authorities and central banks to evaluate and respond to digital infrastructure transformation while fostering international cooperation and knowledge sharing.
